As we understand, current Shakhtar Donesk manager Paulo Fonseca will replace Sam Allardyce at the close of the current season.
The Portuguese manager is highly thought of by Farhad Moshiri and the Everton board. Discussions have already taken place with Everton’s officials and Fonseca’s agent, however the manager will only seek a move after the season has finished.
The 44-year-old boss won every trophy on offer in the Ukrainian Super league last season and has also won trophies in his homeland with Porto and Braga. Last season he was named Ukraine’s best manager and has taken Shakhtar Donesk to the last 16 of this season Champions league campaign.
Highly rated across Europe, Fonseca is seeking another challenge similar to that of Donesk when he arrived. The Ukrainian club had only seen a large investment on Fonseca’s arrival and so he has learnt to work and succeed with the pressures that brings.
The contract of the current Shakhtar boss runs out at the end of the season and other clubs across Europe have taken interest in his services. However, Paulo Fonseca is strongly believed to want a move to the Premier League and Farhad Moshiri has laid that path to Everton.
We understand that in any case, Sam Allardyce will not be the manager at Everton past the close of this campaign.
