Although Tosun has already visited USM Finch farm to outline a potential contract, his current club Besiktas have now thrown a spanner in the works.
You may have seen that the German born Turkish international is currently ‘on leave’ from his duties at Besiktas and with his partner in London. This was thought to be in readiness to officially sign for Everton at some point this week, however, Besiktas have requested an increase in the fee Everton are too pay for the player.
Initially agreed in principle, Everton were under the impression £25mil (€27mil) would seal the deal for Cenk Tosun, who is believed to been keen on the move to Merseyside. Besiktas have since requested Everton now pay £27mil (€29mil) to have Tosun in Blue. It’s understood that Everton’s delegation are reluctant to increase the fee on the basis a fee was agreed just days before the window opened.
Besiktas’ president has said that the fee is to be increased due to Cenk’s replacement also costing more than originally thought. Steve Walsh will return to Turkey this week to officially tie up the deal.
As we understood, Cenk was due to attend Finch Farm once more on Tuesday to complete a full medical and officially sign his contract. Unless an agreement can be reached between Besiktas and Everton, it is unlikely Tosun will be spotted on Merseyside.
