Bournemouth (A) – Player ratings

It makes for grim reading. The team travelled to the Vitality in need of proving a point that they can go forward against the lesser teams. If the opposite was to happen the frustration would be shown from the fans.

Jordan Pickford – 6 – The young goalkeeper has been a constant bright spot in the team through everything this season. Without him today it could have been more.

Jonjoe Kenny – 5 – Caught out of position for the first goal, but not helped by an awful back pass and his centre backs, who had piled over to the other side of the pitch. Passing is improving game by game.

Michael Keane – 4 – Another worrying performance from Everton’s big defensive signing of last summer. Has yet to find his feet for the Blues and made an error for their winner.

Phil Jagielka – 4 – Had a superb game against Chelsea, but took a step backwards today. Struggled to deal with the pace of Josh King early on and gets drawn to the ball all too often.

Cuca Martina – 3 – Haphazard is polite. No composure on the ball and continually struggles to block crosses into the box. Not a left back, granted, but we should still expect more from him than he is providing.

Morgan Schneiderlin – 4 – One of 3 victims of an over crowded centre midfield. Did, however, struggle to prevent anything in the middle of the pitch. A lot more positive on the ball, often with nobody getting on the end of his passes.

James McCarthy – 3 – Not really sure why he walked straight back into the side. Very rusty with his passing and made an amateur mistake with his back pass in the first half. You could say he was another crowded out by the 3 central midfielders we started with.

Idrissa Gueye – 7 – Managed somehow to stand out as our best player when there was so much going on around him. Scored the goal and finished it nicely.

Aaron Lennon – 5 – Always gets a point for effort and today was no different. Unfortunately to no avail. Struggled to get on the ball but showed glimpses on rare attacks in the first half.

Gylfi Sigurdsson – 4 – Pretty much nonexistent. A number 10 playing on the winger is always going to find himself out in the cold every now and again. Tried to have impact when we finally got an attack moving.

Dominic Calvert- Lewin – 4 – The youngster is finding it tough just at the moment. Being asked to do an awful lot, something even the better strikers struggle to do. Has time on his side and does show glimpses when he is supported on the ball. Not his day.
