After much deliberation, the Everton board of chiefs announced Sam Allardyce as the clubs new manager last week. A decision that has meant Allardyce has replaced David Unsworth at the helm.
As we understand, Joe Royle has officially resigned from all of his official duties at Everton football club today.
Royle, who was head of development throughout Everton’s youth system, supported David Unsworth through 2 spells as caretaker manager of the first team. He has also backed and supported Unsworth during the u21’s last few campaigns.
It is believed Joe Royle, who is a good friend of Sam Allardyce, has relinquished hisduties on the back of the boards decision not to appoint David Unsworth as the clubs permanent first team manager. However, his departure is thought to be amicable and talked over with the club officials and David Unsworth before the decision was made.
More to follow.
