3 Thoughts – More questions than answers.

We needed a win when travelling to the King Power today, and we fell short. A continuation of an ageing, slow defence, compiled with a clear lack of goals.

The dog fight

• When you’re down at the bottom and out of luck these kind of performances happen. Penalty shouts don’t go for you and mistakes at back go against you. But, after the last 2 performances, does the confidence in the side seem to be getting any better? Does it seem like the players have a bit more belief and bit more grit and determination to start earning the points? Or is it just the same old story ?

Is Rhino the right man in this position?

• Is Unsworth the man to take us forward, at least in the short term? Or is a new manager needed sooner rather than later? And who? At the minute we can’t score and definitely can’t defend.

In the situation we sit in in the league, I feel myself pushing more and more towards a manager that has experience of surving relegation battles and consolidating a position in the Premier league. The moment you think you’re to good to go down is when you’re less likely to get up for a dog fight.

Formation won’t fix it

• Today’s formation saw Rooney drop deeper with Calvert-Lewin up top, with Sigurdsson on the bench. Is there any alternative at this moment in time? What do we have to lose than starting a more experienced striker in Oumar Niasse? We looked a lot more threatening when Niasse was on the pitch and the barrage of games and disappointment seems to have gotten on top of Calvert-Lewin today, who struggled to read the game up the top end of pitch.

What’s your thoughts on the current situation? can we pull ourselves out of the bottom battle?
