Joel Robles has confirmed to the Spanish media that he intends to leave Everton as soon as possible.
The Spanish goalkeeper has found himself playing 3rd fiddle behind new signing Jordan Pickford and one of Ronald Koeman’s first signings Maarten Stekelenburg.
“I am in my last year of my contract at Everton and this will surely be my last season at Everton because I made the decision not to renew.
“It’s been a complicated season but this is football. These situations happen. You have to be calm, keep fighting and wait for the opportunity. It is not easy but I have to be patient.”
After Tim Howard left the club in 2016, Joel found himself as Everton’s number 1 choice between the sticks. But, after Ronald Koeman took the reigns from Roberto Martinez not long after, the Spaniard has struggled to get game time.
It is thought that a number of Spanish clubs at the lower end of the La Liga table would be interested in making Robles their number 1 goalkeeper as early as January.
